childcare centre philosophy
Many studies have shown the importance of the physical environment in supporting child development. Play is an essential pastime for every child in assisting their social and physical development.
Our architectural designs for Kindergartens, Preschools and Childcare Centres are driven by our belief that childcare spaces should provide a variety of sensory and learning experiences and meet the physical needs of the children in a safe and secure environment.
However archizen architects also understands that a balanced design is required, as the childcare centre must be suitable, easy to use and a practical environment for the supervising carers.
Simply, a well designed preschool or childcare centre designed by a specialist childcare architect benefits not only the child, by enhancing their imagination and development, but also practically supports the centre's supervising staff, permitting them to focus on caring and developing activities for the children.
childcare centre projects
While preschools, long day care centres, kindergartens and childcare centres are in much demand and a growth area in Australia, we understand that the development of a Childcare Centre must be assessed against the physical suitability of the chosen site, local Council objectives and the strict requirements of the Child Services Regulations to determine its feasibility.
We also understand that experience in designing previous Pre-schools, Long Day Care Centres, Kindergartens and Childcare Centres is extremely important. As Architects we have learnt from every new childcare centre and from every new director that we have worked with. From each we further our understanding of the principles of good childcare practice, as we continue to explore ways to turn these principles into three-dimensional spaces that enhance the children's developmental growth and supports the staff's ability to do their jobs.
Consequently, evidenced by our extensive portfolio of pre-schools, long day care centres, kindergartens and childcare centres, archizen architects are now well known as the leading specialist Child Care Centre architectural design practice in Sydney, while acknowledging that we continue to 'push the architectural boundaries' in providing 3-dimensional forms to enhance a child's development.

Sutherland Shire Council - DA approved new purpose designed 38 place childcare centre with basement parking on a corner site zoned R2 low density residential. A Concept Sketch of the proposed childcare centre design was presented to Sutherland Shire Council during a Pre-DA meeting and their comments were:
"The proposal demonstrates a sensible layout. The incorporation of a basement is a good strategy on this confined site. In general, the size, location and double frontage of the site make it suitable for a childcare centre. The preliminary layout is also reasonable in terms of scale, orientation, vehicular access and basement layout. The proposed childcare centre's layout and design appropriately considers the potential impact to adjoining properties"
